CREDENTIALS: The person in this position must have had a minimum of five (5) years of driving experience with an unrestricted operator's license; possess a driving record which meets state requirements; meet requirements of physical and health examination, and drug test including random testing during employment; meet and continually comply with requirements of all regulatory agencies. The person in this position must be courteous; enjoy and demonstrate respect for children; be able to reasonably maintain safe student behavior on the bus; use good judgment in discipline and driving; work cooperatively with adults and children; read, write and follow directions. This person must have a positive, helpful attitude and take pride in providing transportation services to children. This person must dress and behave in a manner which contributes to a perception of trust from others. Skills in vehicle repair and experience in bus driving are preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The person in this position must be emotionally mature, have the ability to cope with stress appropriately and use good judgement in all decisions regarding driving, safety and child care. This person must have and maintain the intellectual, sensory, emotional and physical skills necessary for the safe and efficient performance of duties including but not limited to being able to drive, see, hear, talk, articulate clearly, reach, stoop, kneel, push and pull. This person must be very adaptable in working with children being required to tolerate physical discomfort due to exposure to extreme temperatures, possible fumes and dust and must be able to cope appropriately with traffic congestion, distracting noise and movement and hazardous driving conditions.
PRIMARY DUTIES: The person in this position drives regular bus routes as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Obey all safety rules and traffic laws.
2. Drive regular runs.
3. Maintain cleanliness of bus interior and exterior.
4. Maintain student discipline.
5. Maintain neat appearance, be courteous to parents and children and be cooperative with teachers and school staff.
In addition to essential job functions listed above, perform other duties as assigned.
STAFF RELATIONSHIP: Reports directly to the Director of Transportation.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One hundred eighty-seven (187) days, salary and benefits set annually. |
